Spirit Rock Recommended Supplies
- Paint and Supplies are NOT provided by the School.
- Base: The best paint to use for the base is spray paint. Premium spray paint works best (Rustoleum, etc) vs. a generic store brand. You will probably need 2-3 cans for a good base coat and additional paint for your design. The quantity needed will depend upon the color you are using, the color already painted on the rock, and weather conditions.
- Once you have the base coat, use chalk to sketch out your design. Try to do large shapes so that it’s easy to see from the parking lot and so that you can use spray paint for most of it.
- Use a secondary paint color(s) for coloring the wording/symbols. Acrylics or latex paints, any water-based paint will work well. We recommend a small (1" or smaller) brushes or foam sponge brushes sponges for lettering/designs.
- Make sure to bring paper towels to wipe any drips.
- Bring a jug of water if you are using a paintbrush and for any spills. There is NOT water access on-site to rinse off brushes/rollers. We suggest bringing a small bucket and a gallon container of water from home.
- Wearing rubber gloves will help keep your hands clean.
- Have fun and post photos on our Facebook page!
