ARTS

Fine Arts

Although not everyone realizes it, our God has given every one of us talents that we can develop and use to bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ! It is truly amazing to realize that we, mere sinners, could do anything that could honor and please the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, the Mighty Creator and Wonderful Savior! At Calvary Christian School we strive to use our excellent Fine Arts Program as an avenue for each student to do just that — use their God-given talents to honor and glorify King Jesus!

We firmly believe that nothing should be done without all of the praise and honor going to God alone. Therefore, the theme verse for the CCS Fine Arts Program is I Corinthians 10:31, which states, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

My heart’s desire is to teach and influence our young people to fulfill that Scripture in ALL of their fine arts endeavors at CCS!

Through public performances and state and national competitions (see below), there is virtually something in fine arts for every student to get involved in who wishes to do so. Whether students choose to compete in vocal, instrumental, or speech performances, academic testing or art, we trust that our Fine Arts Program will provide a means by which they can glorify Christ and develop their personal skills.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about our fine arts program and I’ll be honored to help you!

Serving the Lord and you with all of my heart,

Marilyn Comstock

Fine Arts Director, Calvary Christian School

Regarding Competition:

The North Carolina Christian School Association (NCCSA) developed and organized its Fine Arts Competition for the sole purpose of providing NCCSA students an outlet to display their God-given talents and to compete against other Christian school students from across the nation.

The NCCSA Fine Arts Competition is broken down into several areas: a group competition that encompasses all group music, speech, art, spelling bee, Bible quizzing, Bible competition, and science fair competition. Journalism competition is administered onsite at each school during various times of the year.

CCS also participates in separate NCCSA Solo/Small Group Competitions for both junior and senior high students, as well as an Elementary Fine Arts Competition. An NCCSA Academic Testing competition is also offered in grades 3-12 in many different academic disciplines.

In most categories, senior high winners from the NCCSA state competition are eligible to participate at the AACS National Fine Arts Competition held at Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) where they compete against other state winners from across the country.
